Jose Mourinho outlines tactical evolution for Arda Guler

Real Madrid manager Jose Mourinho has outlined a long-term tactical plan for Arda Guler, suggesting the Turkish player could eventually evolve into a deeper midfield role similar to Barcelona's Rodri.

Mourinho noted that while Guler is not ready for such a transition immediately, he envisions a progression similar to players like Luka Modric and Bernardo Silva. The strategy involves Guler starting in more advanced positions, such as a number 10, before gradually moving back to play as a number 8 or a number 6 to assist in build-up play and ball control.

Regarding squad preparation ahead of the La Liga opener against Espanyol, Mourinho mentioned challenges with player fitness and varying levels of pre-season preparation. He noted that while some players have completed extensive training, others are still recovering from injuries or adjusting to the schedule. He specifically mentioned that Aurélien Tchouameni is working to speed up his recovery to reach full fitness.
