Josefina Stagnaro to exhibit paper sculptures at Homo Faber Biennial
Argentine artist and biologist Josefina Stagnaro has been selected to exhibit her paper sculptures at the Homo Faber Biennial in Venice. Her work, which features delicate bird sculptures, is part of the installation ‘An Infinite Birdsong’ at the Fondazione Giorgio Cini on the island of San Giorgio Maggiore.
Stagnaro, originally from San Antonio de Areco, combines her scientific background in biology with traditional craftsmanship learned from her father, a silversmith. Her specific pieces for the exhibition, ‘Garzas Chiflonas y Un Huevo en su Nido’, are designed to prompt reflection on the relationship between humanity and nature. The biennial, themed ‘An Island of Light’, features artistic direction by British designer Es Devlin.
