Joseon Royal Tombs forest trails to open for autumn season
The Korea Heritage Service's Royal Palaces and Tombs Center will open nine forest trails within the UNESCO World Heritage Joseon Royal Tombs for a 60-day autumn season from October 1 to November 29.
The opening covers a total distance of 19.04 km across various locations, including Donggu Reung in Guri, Gwangneung and Sareung in Namyangju, Tae Reung and Gangneung in Seoul, Uireung in Seoul, Yungneung and Geonneung in Hwaseong, Jangneung and Samneung in Paju, and Yeongneung in Yeoju.
Operating hours align with the standard visiting hours of the royal tombs. In October, the trails are accessible from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, while in November, the closing time shifts to 4:30 PM. The trails are closed on Mondays. The initiative, which has been held regularly every spring and autumn since 2019, aims to allow visitors to experience the historical value of the tombs alongside the natural beauty of the autumn foliage.
