Josep Juanpere death investigation: Forensic report cites indeterminate cause

An investigation is ongoing into the death of architect Josep Juanpere, who died on December 26 in Baqueira. His partner, Belén López, has been placed in provisional imprisonment with an 80,000 euro bail following allegations of homicide.

López testified to the Mossos d’Esquadra that she did not realize Juanpere had died, claiming she was lying next to him and did not notice him stop breathing or experience any spasms. An autopsy determined the time of death occurred between 15:00 and 21:00 on December 26.

A recent forensic report has classified the cause of death as of indeterminate origin. Medical experts noted two possible scenarios: a natural cause, such as a myocardial infarction, or a traumatic cause due to injuries found on the victim's neck. The judge is investigating whether the neck injuries were caused by external force or if López failed to provide necessary assistance. The defense argues the neck injury may have resulted from an accidental collision with a radiator.
