Josep Pedrerol launches 'El Chiringuito' on Mediaset Spain

After more than a decade at Atresmedia, journalist Josep Pedrerol is moving to Mediaset España. The sports‑talk show "El Chiringuito" will relaunch on 17 August, airing Monday‑Thursday on the Energy channel and Sundays on Cuatro, keeping its midnight slot. Pedrerol said the deal was sealed in April with a handshake after a lunch with Mediaset CEO Alessandro Salem, and he insisted on bringing his team of about 70 staff members. Mediaset’s content director Jaime Guerra called the acquisition a strategic boost for the group’s sports offering. Pedrerol also announced three new hires for the programme. Some reports allege that Real Madrid president Florentino Pérez helped facilitate the move, though the claim remains unverified.
