Joseph Burkhalter confirmed as U.S. Ambassador to Moldova

The United States Senate has confirmed Joseph Burkhalter as the new U.S. Ambassador to the Republic of Moldova. The confirmation concludes the legislative process required for Burkhalter to assume his diplomatic mandate.

Burkhalter, a Republican from Georgia with nearly 20 years of experience in the Georgia House of Representatives, was nominated by President Donald Trump. His background includes studies in international relations, political science, and Slavic languages, as well as professional experience in real estate development, strategic consulting, and government relations.

The position of U.S. Ambassador to Chișinău has been vacant since the conclusion of Kent D. Logsdon's term. The U.S. Embassy in Moldova is currently being led on an interim basis by Chargé d'Affaires Nick Pietrowicz.
