Joseph Dweba awaits debut for Exeter Chiefs

South African international hooker Joseph Dweba has yet to make his season debut for the Exeter Chiefs, missing the club’s opening two matches of the English Premiership campaign. Dweba, who made 26 appearances and scored five tries last season, was absent during the Premiership Rugby Cup victory against Bristol Bears and the subsequent round-one defeat to Gloucester.

Exeter director of rugby Rob Baxter addressed the absence, stating that Dweba is in full training and performing well. Baxter noted that the decision to utilize veteran Jack Yeandle and youngster Louie Gulley was based on current form rather than injury. He emphasized that there is strong competition for the hooker position, mentioning that Max Norey is also fully fit and available for selection.
