Joseph Niemiec charged with attempted homicide in Racine

Joseph Niemiec, 18, of Pleasant Prairie, has been charged with one count of attempt first-degree intentional homicide and use of a dangerous weapon following a stabbing in Racine, Wisconsin.

According to a criminal complaint, police responded to the 4200 block of 21st Street on August 12 after a man was found with a puncture wound to his throat. The victim reported that after hearing a noise at his back door, he opened it to speak with a man who identified himself as Niemiec. The victim is expected to recover.

Niemiec was arrested by the Nebraska State Patrol and is currently awaiting extradition to Wisconsin.
