Josh Brolin declined lead role in Jurassic World franchise

Actor Josh Brolin has revealed that he turned down the lead role of Owen Grady in the Jurassic World franchise. Despite the series becoming a massive commercial success, earning billions of dollars, Brolin stated he did not feel the character suited him.

Brolin noted that after the failure of Jonah Hex, he became more cautious regarding leading roles. He expressed respect for director Steven Spielberg but explained, “I simply could not imagine myself in that story. I did not see myself in that role.”

Following Brolin's decision, Chris Pratt was cast in the role, helping the film earn over $1.6 billion and the subsequent trilogy reach nearly $4 billion in total global box office revenue. Brolin expressed satisfaction with his choice and praised Pratt as the perfect fit for the character.
