Josh Brolin explains why he declined role in ‘Lanterns’

Actor Josh Brolin has revealed why he declined the role of Hal Jordan in the HBO series ‘Lanterns’. While Kyle Chandler eventually took on the iconic Green Lantern role, Brolin was initially in negotiations for the part.

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Brolin suggested that the timing of the offer may have been a factor, noting it came shortly after the cancellation of his previous series, ‘Outer Range’. He expressed significant disappointment regarding the end of ‘Outer Range’, describing the cancellation as “heartbreaking” and suggesting that the decision-makers “had a gold mine in their hands.”

Despite passing on the DC Universe project, Brolin stated that he has seen ‘Lanterns’ and expressed support for the cast and the production.
