Josh Brolin nearly quit Ridley Scott's film The Dog Stars

Actor Josh Brolin said he was ready to leave Ridley Scott’s upcoming post‑apocalyptic drama The Dog Stars after his first day on set, feeling that something was “really wrong”. He called his agent to quit, but the agent urged him to rest for a day. Brolin later stayed, saying he eventually embraced Scott’s unconventional shooting method, which relies on multiple cameras and minimal rehearsals.

Brolin, portraying ex‑Marine Bangley, noted that after watching the daily footage and a quick scene playback in Scott’s trailer, he “fed off” the dynamic moment with co‑star Jacob Elordi. He later described the project as one of the most creative and satisfying he’s been part of. The Dog Stars, based on Peter Heller’s novel and also starring Margaret Qualley and Guy Pearce, is scheduled for release on August 26.
