Details have emerged regarding a cancelled X-Force film that was in development at 20th Century Fox prior to its acquisition by Disney in 2019. According to X-Force co-creator Rob Liefeld, the project would have featured Josh Brolin in a dual role, portraying both the mutant Cable and his villainous clone, Stryfe.
The film was intended to be directed and written by Drew Goddard and would have served as a follow-up to the events of Deadpool 2. Liefeld noted that Brolin was reportedly enthusiastic about the multi-picture deal, which would have allowed him to play both characters in a confrontation. The project was ultimately halted following the Disney acquisition, though characters from the franchise have since transitioned to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
