Josh Hartnett discusses career evolution and upcoming film ‘Verity’
Actor Josh Hartnett has discussed his career evolution and his upcoming role in the psychological erotic thriller ‘Verity’. Based on the novel by Colleen Hoover, the film is directed by Michael Showalter and stars Hartnett alongside Anne Hathaway and Dakota Johnson.
During an appearance on ‘The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon’, Hartnett shared an anecdote about his goddaughter, who reportedly struggled to envision him as the character Jeremy, suggesting he seemed “a thousand years old” for the part. Hartnett noted that while the character is written in his 40s, his goddaughter had hoped for a younger actor like Timothée Chalamet.
In a separate reflection on his professional journey, Hartnett described his transition from being viewed as a ‘piece of meat’ or a teen heartthrob to being treated as a collaborator by directors. He expressed a desire to focus on more intricate, artistic roles following recent successes in films such as ‘Oppenheimer’ and ‘Trap’. ‘Verity’ is scheduled for release by Amazon MGM Studios in the United States and Canada on October 2, 2026.
