Josh Hawley urges USDA to preserve Missouri FSA offices

U.S. Senator Josh Hawley sent a letter to U.S. Department of Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins asking the agency to review planned closures and service reductions at Missouri Farm Service Agency (FSA) offices. He highlighted the scheduled reduction of services at the Ralls County office beginning October 1, 2026, noting that October is a critical month for delivering conservation and disaster program assistance to farmers.

Hawley requested detailed information on how many county offices could be affected by October 2027 and asked the USDA to use all available authority to maintain operations. The request comes as the USDA is completing a reorganization, which Deputy Secretary Stephen Vaden has said will not impact county‑level producer service offices. Hawley emphasized the high production costs and recurring financial losses faced by Missouri producers who rely on timely federal assistance.
