Josh Hokit draws controversy with 9/11 jokes
UFC heavyweight fighter Josh Hokit has drawn significant backlash following a social media video posted on the 25th anniversary of the September 11 terrorist attacks. In the video, Hokit made a joke referencing the 110 floors of the World Trade Center, stating, “Who’s the fastest readers in the world? 9/11 victims, they could go through 110 stories in just a few seconds.” He added that he is usually skeptical of such jokes because they “usually never land.”
Hokit, who holds a 10-0 professional record, has a history of provocative behavior, including previous controversial comments regarding Michelle Obama. While UFC President Dana White has previously criticized Hokit’s antics, the organization’s Fighter Code of Conduct has not been strictly enforced regarding such free speech. The fighter's recent rise in the heavyweight rankings follows victories over opponents such as Derrick Lewis and Curtis Blaydes.
