Josh Inglis ruled out of South Africa ODIs with fractured finger

Australian wicketkeeper-batter Josh Inglis has been ruled out of the remaining two One Day International (ODI) matches against South Africa due to a fractured right index finger. The injury occurred while Inglis was wicketkeeping during the series-opening match in Durban. Despite the injury, he continued to play and batted at number four, scoring three runs.

Inglis has returned to Perth for medical scans and further treatment. His availability for the upcoming Test series, scheduled to begin in Durban on October 9, remains uncertain and will depend on his recovery progress. The injury presents a selection challenge for Australia, as Inglis was a potential candidate for the Test side to bolster the batting order.

Cricket Australia has not yet announced a replacement for the remaining ODIs in Johannesburg and Potchefstroom. Alex Carey is expected to take over wicketkeeping duties for the remainder of the white-ball series.
