Josh Jacobs charged with two misdemeanors in Wisconsin

Green Bay Packers running back Josh Jacobs has been formally charged with two misdemeanors: battery and criminal damage to property. The charges stem from an incident in May involving an alleged physical altercation with his girlfriend at his residence in Wisconsin.

Following a multi-month investigation by the Brown County District Attorney’s Office, prosecutors decided not to pursue the initial felony charges of strangulation and suffocation. District Attorney David Lasee stated that the decision followed a review of evidence, including surveillance footage from the residence's garage. Jacobs' legal team has acknowledged the charges but noted they “do not include domestic violence.”

The NFL is currently monitoring the case and conducting its own investigation, which could result in a suspension for Jacobs under the league's Personal Conduct Policy. Packers head coach Matt LaFleur stated that the team anticipates Jacobs remaining on the roster, though his availability for the start of the season remains uncertain. If a suspension occurs, the team may rely more heavily on running backs such as MarShawn Lloyd.
