Josh Jacobs legal case: Judge denies request to seal evidence
Green Bay Packers running back Josh Jacobs faces potential NFL suspension following a legal ruling in his domestic violence case. A Wisconsin judge denied requests to permanently seal evidence, including surveillance video from an incident in Jacobs’ garage. The records have been turned over to the Hobart-Lawrence Police Department, which will manage future public records requests. This development provides a potential pathway for the NFL to review the footage as part of its investigation into Jacobs, who has already been placed on the commissioner’s exempt list.
Jacobs previously entered a no-contest plea to misdemeanor battery and criminal damage to property. The incident involved an altercation where, according to police reports, Jacobs threw a woman to the ground and damaged her cellphone. While the judge unsealed the files, he cautioned that the victim’s rights to dignity and privacy must still be considered during the release process.
On the field, the Packers suffered a significant 35-14 loss to the Atlanta Falcons during their home opener at Lambeau Field. The defeat highlighted struggles for the Green Bay offense and offensive line, leaving the team with a 1-2 record. Falcons running back Bijan Robinson led the victory with 194 rushing yards and two touchdowns.
