Josh Jacobs pleads no contest to misdemeanor charges
Green Bay Packers running back Josh Jacobs pleaded no contest in Brown County Circuit Court to misdemeanor charges of battery and criminal damage to property. The charges stem from a May altercation with his girlfriend, during which police reported she sustained an injury to her head after being thrown to the ground.
As part of the legal resolution, Jacobs was ordered to pay a $1,000 fine and court costs for the battery charge. Regarding the criminal damage charge, prosecutors have agreed to a deferred judgment: proceedings will be suspended for 12 months, and the charge will be dismissed if Jacobs fulfills specific conditions, including paying restitution, attending counseling, and having no contact with the victim.
Jacobs remains on the NFL’s Commissioner’s Exempt List, which prevents him from practicing or playing in games while he continues to receive his salary. The league stated it is monitoring the developments and the matter remains under review according to the NFL's personal conduct policy. A decision regarding a potential league suspension has not yet been made.
