Josh Jung suffers fractured right hand after being hit by pitch
Texas Rangers designated hitter Josh Jung sustained a fracture in his right hand after being hit by a pitch during a game against the Minnesota Twins. The injury occurred in the first inning when Jung was struck by a 94.6-mph fastball from Twins starter Joe Ryan.
Rangers manager Skip Schumaker confirmed that X-rays revealed a fracture in the fifth metacarpal of Jung’s right hand. While Jung remained in the game to run the bases, he was replaced by a pinch hitter in the third inning. Jung expressed feeling “devastated” by the injury.
The loss comes at a critical time as the Rangers are in a race with the Houston Astros for the AL West title. Jung has been performing well recently, maintaining a 1.032 OPS over his last 48 plate appearances. He is expected to miss the final two games of the regular season, and his availability for the postseason remains uncertain pending further medical evaluation.
