Josh Maja to join Ligue 1 side Le Havre on free transfer
Nigerian forward Josh Maja, 27, is set to sign a two‑year contract – with an option for a third year – with Ligue 1 club Le Havre. The move comes after he became a free agent following the expiry of his contract with English Championship side West Bromwich Albion.
Maja, who has scored 81 career goals for club and country, previously played in France with Bordeaux and will return to the French league after three years in England. Le Havre, who narrowly avoided relegation last season, view the former Super Eagles striker as a key addition to strengthen their attack ahead of the new campaign.
During his final season at West Brom, Maja was the club’s top scorer with 12 league goals despite injury setbacks, helping the team retain its Championship status. The transfer marks a fresh challenge for the player and adds experience for the Normandy‑based club.
