Josh Radnor reveals ‘How I Met Your Mother’ cast is no longer close

Josh Radnor, who played Ted Mosby on the long-running CBS sitcom ‘How I Met Your Mother’, has revealed that the core cast is ‘not even a little bit’ close anymore. Speaking on the ‘Half the Picture’ podcast, Radnor explained that while there is no dramatic tension or ill will, the group has naturally drifted apart since the series ended in 2014.

Radnor compared the intense daily closeness of filming to a college experience, noting that once the shared environment disappears, people simply go out and live their lives. He addressed fan expectations of the cast remaining inseparable, stating that while people want to believe the actors still frequent New York City bars together, that is not the reality.

Regarding specific cast members, Radnor noted that he has had ‘interesting’ and ‘healing’ conversations with Neil Patrick Harris about past on-set tension. He occasionally exchanges texts with Jason Segel and has connected with Cobie Smulders via video calls, but emphasized that the active, daily bond they shared on screen has dispersed.
