Josh Sargent scores hat trick in Toronto FC 4-4 draw against Chicago Fire

Toronto FC and Chicago Fire FC played to a 4-4 draw at BMO Field in a high-scoring Major League Soccer matchup. Josh Sargent recorded his first career hat trick, scoring in the 27th, 36th, and 54th minutes to help Toronto take a lead during the contest.

Chicago responded through Maren Haile-Selassie and a goal from Robert Lewandowski, who made his first professional appearance on Canadian soil, to reclaim the lead. Toronto secured a point in the second-half stoppage time when Derrick Etienne Jr. scored the tying goal.

Sargent’s performance marks the first hat trick for a Toronto FC player in MLS since May 2024. Despite the individual achievement, Sargent described the result as “bittersweet” as the team missed the opportunity to secure all three points.
