Josh Shapiro leads Stacy Garrity in Pennsylvania polls

Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro holds a significant lead over Republican challenger and State Treasurer Stacy Garrity in recent statewide polls. A New York Times/Philadelphia Inquirer/Siena poll found Shapiro with 55% support compared to 39% for Garrity, noting a 50%-36% advantage among independent voters. A separate survey by the Center for Public Opinion at Franklin & Marshall College showed Shapiro leading 50% to 25%.

Amid the political race, controversy has emerged regarding Shapiro’s transparency concerning public health. Following reports of two measles-related deaths in Lancaster County, Shapiro and health officials cited “privacy concerns” to withhold demographic details about the victims. While Shapiro stated the deaths were “indicative of the consequences of a lack of immunization,” critics have questioned the lack of specific information provided to the public regarding the fatalities.
