Josh Wander pleads guilty to $500 million fraud scheme

Josh Wander, co-founder of the Miami-based investment firm 777 Partners, has pleaded guilty in a Manhattan federal court to wire fraud and securities fraud. The scheme involved defrauding private lenders and investors of more than $500 million.

Wander admitted to using exaggerated assets and falsified bank statements to secure loans and investments between 2021 and 2022. Prosecutors stated that funds intended for structured settlement agreements were instead diverted to unauthorized uses, including the financing of professional football clubs managed by 777 Partners, such as Hertha BSC in Germany, Vasco da Gama in Brazil, Genoa in Italy, and Standard Liege in Belgium.

As part of his plea agreement, Wander has agreed to pay at least $500 million in restitution. He currently remains free on bail. A district judge is scheduled to determine his sentence on March 1, 2027. Wander faces a maximum potential sentence of up to 40 years in prison for the crimes admitted.
