Josh Wilson joins protest against Woodside sponsorship of Fremantle Dockers

Federal Labor MP Josh Wilson has joined a growing protest against Woodside Energy’s sponsorship of the Fremantle Dockers. Ahead of the 2026 AFL Grand Final, Wilson was pictured wearing a Dockers guernsey with the Woodside logo covered by tape.

Wilson stated that while he wishes to support the team, he also values the freedom to express personal views through peaceful campaigns. The protest follows a similar action by Tame Impala frontman and Dockers supporter Kevin Parker, who wore a taped-over logo during a concert in Denver.

The demonstrations are part of the ‘Get Off My Chest’ campaign, which seeks to have the club terminate its sponsorship deal with the oil and gas giant. This move may create friction with Wilson’s Labor colleagues, as both federal and state branches have supported extensions to Woodside’s North West Shelf gas project.
