Joshua Báez faces MLB adjustment after historic debut
Following a spectacular Major League Baseball debut featuring three home runs, Joshua Báez has entered a period of adjustment. The 23-year-old prospect has gone 0-for-17 in his last 17 at-bats, highlighting the challenges of adapting to MLB pitching as opponents begin to study his weaknesses.
Báez is part of a notable group of rookies this season. Alongside him, Venezuelan players are making significant impacts in the league. Among the 14 Venezuelans who debuted this year, Yohendrick Piñango of the Toronto Blue Jays has played 58 games with a .260 average, while 22-year-old José Fernández of the Arizona Diamondbacks became the first Venezuelan to hit two home runs in his MLB debut.
