Joshua Culver arrested for forging Chief Justice Roberts' signature

Joshua M. Culver, also known as Maverick A. Young, has been arrested in Colorado following a federal grand jury indictment in Indiana. He faces four counts of falsely impersonating a U.S. officer or employee and one count involving the use of a forged federal judge's signature and court seal.

Prosecutors allege that on September 24, 2025, Culver filed a fraudulent document titled ‘Order of Dismissal With Prejudice’ in Grant County Superior Court to attempt to dismiss a pending criminal theft case against him. The document reportedly featured a forged signature of Chief Justice John Roberts and a counterfeit U.S. Supreme Court seal.

The indictment describes a pattern of impersonation. Five days prior to the Supreme Court forgery, Culver allegedly contacted the Tippecanoe County Sheriff’s Office while posing as a National Security Agency agent. During these communications, he reportedly used his purported authority to demand welfare checks, location information for his daughter, and personal details of sheriff’s office employees, while threatening the department with ‘adverse action’ if they did not comply.
