Joshua Duerksen secures historic Formula 2 double victory at Monza
Paraguayan driver Joshua Duerksen achieved a historic double victory at the Monza circuit during the tenth round of the Formula 2 championship. Driving for Invicta Racing, Duerksen won both the Sprint Race on Saturday and the Feature Race on Sunday.
In the Feature Race, Duerksen managed a strategic pit stop to reclaim the lead and successfully defended his position against teammate Rafael Câmara. The podium was completed by Mexican driver Noel León in third place, marking a significant performance for the team and a potential historic top-three finish for Latin American drivers in the category.
Following the conclusion of the race, Duerksen’s car caught fire shortly after crossing the finish line. The driver was able to exit the vehicle safely and participate in the podium celebrations. The results significantly impact the championship standings, with Câmara narrowing the gap to leader Nikola Tsolov.
