Joshua Oppenheimer’s ‘The Revolution Against Death’ acquired by Op-Docs and MUBI
The New York Times Op-Docs has acquired ‘The Revolution Against Death’, a new documentary short by filmmaker Joshua Oppenheimer. The film will be released globally in coordination with MUBI in early December.
The documentary explores the pursuit of immortality through the lens of the annual Revolution Against Aging and Death Festival, a gathering focused on longevity and technological advancements. Oppenheimer, known for ‘The Act of Killing’, describes the project as a personal exploration of his own childhood fear of death, observing how participants attempt to overcome mortality.
The film previously premiered at the Tampere Film Festival and screened at Telluride. It joins a slate of award-contending films for Op-Docs’s 2026 lineup.
