Joshua Wasson sentenced to probation for intimidating Lt. Gov. Micah Beckwith

Joshua Wasson, 25, of Jasper, Indiana, has been sentenced to nearly a year of probation after pleading guilty to felony intimidation involving threats sent to Lieutenant Governor Micah Beckwith.

In Dubois Circuit Court, Wasson pleaded guilty to one Level 6 felony count of intimidation, along with misdemeanor charges for marijuana possession and paraphernalia. Under a plea agreement, a second felony intimidation charge and a misdemeanor harassment charge were dismissed. Judge Nathan A. Verkamp sentenced Wasson to 544 days for the intimidation count, suspending 364 days to supervised probation. The court also applied credits for time served and good behavior to satisfy the unsuspended portion of the sentence.

The probation terms prohibit Wasson from having any direct or indirect contact with Beckwith. He is also required to complete anger management counseling within six months and undergo assessments for substance abuse and mental health, followed by any recommended treatment. If he successfully completes probation, he may petition the court to reduce the felony conviction to a Class A misdemeanor.
