Josiah Harrell prepares for UFC return following brain surgery

Mixed martial artist Josiah Harrell is preparing for his return to the Octagon against Elves Brener at UFC Vegas 121. Harrell’s career has been marked by significant medical challenges, including the discovery of Moyamoya—a rare condition involving narrowed arteries in the brain—which forced him to undergo emergency surgery and miss a planned debut at UFC 290 in 2023.

Following his medical recovery, Harrell suffered his first professional loss to Jacobe Smith during his UFC debut in February. Harrell stated that the defeat helped him mentally by removing the pressure of maintaining an undefeated record, allowing him to focus on technical improvements and performance rather than protecting a perfect standing.

Harrell expressed that despite the complications of seizures and health doubts, he remains committed to his career, citing his faith as a primary motivator during his recovery process.
