Vozinha nominated for 2026 Ballon d’Or Yashin Trophy

Cape Verdean goalkeeper Josimar José Évora Dias, known as Vozinha, has been nominated for the 2026 Yashin Trophy as part of the Ballon d’Or awards. The 40-year-old, who currently plays for Colo-Colo in Chile, earned the nomination following a standout performance at the 2026 FIFA World Cup. During the tournament, he helped Cape Verde achieve a historic draw against Spain and a competitive match against Argentina.

Vozinha joins a shortlist of ten elite goalkeepers, including Yassine Bounou, Thibaut Courtois, Emiliano Martínez, and Unai Simón. His nomination marks a significant milestone for both the player and the Chilean league, as he is the first player from the domestic league to be considered for a Ballon d’Or category.

In club play, Vozinha has maintained an impressive start in Chile, recording consecutive clean sheets in his recent appearances for Colo-Colo. The Ballon d’Or ceremony is scheduled to take place on October 26 in London.
