Josip Dabro calls for lethal force against illegal migrants

Josip Dabro, a Member of Parliament from the Homeland Movement (Domovinski pokret), has called for extreme measures against illegal migrants, including the use of lethal force at borders and police violence against criminals.

Dabro’s comments follow the sentencing of a Pakistani national to six and a half years in prison for the rape and unlawful detention of a Nepalese woman in Zagreb. Dabro characterized the case as a demonstration of the “paralysis of state orders,” arguing that the current asylum system allows criminals to avoid deportation by repeatedly applying for asylum.

In a social media statement, Dabro asserted that national security should be defended at the borders “with all means and shooting if and when necessary.” He suggested that the state should send clear messages through actions, such as news reports of security forces killing illegal migrants during violent border crossings or police beating rapists before their immediate deportation.
