Josipa Pleslić reportedly reaches new plea deals with USKOK
Former state secretary Josipa Pleslić has reportedly reached two new plea agreements with the Croatian anti-corruption agency, USKOK, regarding the Wind Power Plants and Zadar University corruption cases.
These developments follow a decision by the High Criminal Court to reject defense appeals concerning the exclusion of illegal evidence, which cleared the way for the proceedings to continue at the Zagreb County Court. Pleslić previously reached a settlement in the 'Sport and Music' case, resulting in an 18-month prison sentence and a 130,000 euro fine.
Unofficial reports suggest that for the two remaining cases, Pleslić may have negotiated a combined sentence of 2 years and 4 months in prison, along with a fine of approximately 70,000 euros. If these deals are finalized and the sentences are consolidated, her total time in prison—accounting for time already served in investigative detention—could range between 22 months and 2.5 years, depending on eligibility for parole.
In the Wind Power Plants case, USKOK alleges Pleslić accepted a bribe of 208,957 euros to facilitate business for an entrepreneur. The Zadar University case involves allegations of favoritism alongside other defendants. Pleslić's lawyer has declined to comment on the reports.
