Josué “Pee Wee” Zepeda advances to quarterfinals at U19 World Boxing Championships

Mexican boxer Josué “Pee Wee” Zepeda has advanced to the quarterfinals of the U19 World Boxing Championships in Budva, Montenegro. Competing in the 60kg division, the 17-year-old from Rosarito, Baja California, secured a third-round referee stoppage (RSC) victory against Canada’s Racim Benaoudia.

Zepeda’s path to the quarterfinals included a stoppage victory against Australia’s Tyson Kennedy and a unanimous decision win over Albania’s Dakolli Dakolli. His upcoming quarterfinal match is scheduled for Saturday against Daniyar Akbissenov of Kazakhstan.

Zepeda’s participation in the tournament was supported by financial assistance from Mexican champion Saúl “Canelo” Álvarez, following public calls for help regarding the athlete's travel and training expenses.
