Jota Quest performs Tim Maia tribute at Rock in Rio

The Brazilian band Jota Quest performed a tribute to the late soul music icon Tim Maia during the Rock in Rio festival at the Sunset Stage. The performance featured several special guests, including Tony Tornado, Lincoln Tornado, and Negra Li.

During the set, vocalist Rogério Flausino modified the lyrics of the song ‘Vale Tudo’ to promote inclusivity. While the original lyrics stated that certain types of dancing were not allowed, Flausino adapted the verse to state that dancing between men or between women is now permitted, declaring, ‘Now it is worth. Diversity is worth, Rock in Rio.’

The tribute is part of the band's recent project, ‘Jota Quest & Tim Maia — Dance enquanto é tempo’. The repertoire included several of Maia's classics, such as ‘Gostava Tanto de Você’, ‘Descobridor dos Sete Mares’, and ‘Não Quero Dinheiro’.
