Jotunheimen vgs. reopens as tuition-free private school
Jotunheimen videregående skole is reopening in Lom as a permanent private school following its closure as a public institution by the Innlandet county council in autumn 2024.
Unlike most private schools, Jotunheimen vgs. will not charge tuition fees. Additionally, breakfast, lunch, and school materials will be provided free of charge to students. According to board chair Hanna Skjåkødegård, the school’s financial model is supported by a community-driven collective effort and state funding from the Ministry of Education and the Directorate for Education and Training. Approximately 100 students are expected to begin classes at the new institution.
