Journalism and literature conferences scheduled in Romania

Two distinct cultural and professional events are scheduled in Romania focusing on the intersection of journalism, literature, and conflict reporting.

In Iași, photojournalist and Radio România Actualități correspondent Ilie Pintea delivered a conference titled ‘How much of war becomes news?’ at the ‘Alexandru Ioan Cuza’ University. Pintea shared insights from his experiences reporting on the front lines in Afghanistan and Ukraine, discussing the courage required for the profession and the personal connections formed with soldiers outside of active combat.

In Bucharest, writer and journalist Matei Vișniec is set to hold a conference at Sala Dalles on October 29 titled ‘Literature and journalism. How we decipher today’s world’. Vișniec will explore how literature serves as a tool for probing the human soul and collective memory, while reflecting on his career in independent journalism with the BBC and Radio France Internationale.
