Journalism awards in Brazil extend registration deadlines

Two major journalism awards in Brazil are currently accepting entries with updated or upcoming deadlines.

The eighth edition of the Prêmio Mosca, which incentivizes journalistic productions based on official data, is accepting applications until October 25, 2026. The competition features three categories: Professional, University Student, and Community Interest Projects (the Rastilho category). Winners will be announced in December, with cash prizes ranging from R$ 500 to R$ 1,250.

Additionally, the 15th Prêmio MPRO de Jornalismo has extended its registration period. This initiative offers a total of R$ 77,000 in prize money across four categories: Web Journalism, Telejournalism, Cinematography, and Academic Highlight. The extension allows for entries published between October 15, 2025, and October 20, 2026. Top prizes for the professional categories reach R$ 12,000.
