Journalism forums address digital challenges and AI

Journalism professionals and students will gather for the XXX Congreso Hispanoamericano de la Prensa, scheduled for October 28–30, 2026, at the Universidad Privada Franz Tamayo in Santa Cruz. The event focuses on digital journalism challenges, including the responsible use of artificial intelligence, information verification, and new content production methods. International guest Ignacio Ramonet is set to discuss the impact of technological transformation and AI on global governance and journalistic practice.

In a separate regional initiative, journalist Yolanda Peach led a workshop on social media journalism at the Hemeroteca Pública de Oaxaca in Mexico. The session addressed the critical distinction between viral content and journalistic credibility, emphasizing the need for data verification and context to build audience trust in a rapid digital environment. The workshop explored various digital formats, such as infographics, reels, and live broadcasts, as part of the anniversary celebrations for the Oaxaca public library.
