Journalismus macht Schule launches media literacy project

The “Journalismus macht Schule” project offers free media education programs for schools in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Germany. The initiative aims to empower students to become competent recipients and active participants in a democratic society by teaching them how news is produced, how to verify credibility, and how to identify fake news.

The project is supported by a regional network including the German Journalists Association (DJV) Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Norddeutscher Rundfunk (NDR), the Ministry of Education MV, and various regional print and radio media outlets. Available formats for educators include 90-minute workshops, classroom discussions, and project days involving simulations or newsroom visits.
