Journalist and lawyer Landri Neto dies at 42 in Palmas

Journalist and lawyer Landri Alves Carvalho Neto has died at the age of 42 in Palmas, Tocantins. His death followed complications from a heart valve replacement surgery related to ongoing cardiac issues.

Neto was a prominent figure in the Tocantins media and legal sectors, serving as a presenter for RedeTV Tocantins and as the former president of the Sexual Diversity Commission for the Brazilian Bar Association (OAB-TO) section. He was recognized for his advocacy regarding social justice and LGBTQIA+ rights.

The OAB-TO and the Lawyers' Assistance Fund (CAATO) have declared two days of official mourning. Additionally, the journalism department at the Federal University of Tocantins (UFT) expressed grief over the loss of the student, who was noted for his dedicated and inquisitive nature.
