Journalist Anietie Ben Akpan laid to rest in Akwa Ibom

The remains of Anietie Ben Akpan, former South South Deputy Bureau Chief of The Guardian Newspapers, have been laid to rest in his hometown of Ekpeneobo, Akwa Ibom State.

During the funeral service, Cross River State Governor Senator Bassey Otu paid tribute to Akpan, describing him as a seasoned professional who upheld the ethics of balance, objectivity, and fairness. The Governor noted that Akpan’s journalism gave a voice to the Niger Delta and highlighted its development challenges.

Akpan was honored by family, friends, community leaders, and members of the Living Faith Church, who gathered to celebrate his contributions to the journalism profession.
