Journalist Ari Diógenes dies at 82 in Goiás
Journalist Ari Diógenes da Rocha has died at the age of 82 following a sudden heart attack at his home on Friday night, September 25. Despite receiving assistance from the Fire Department, he did not survive.
Diógenes was a prominent figure in Goiás politics, having served in the communication department of the Government of Goiás since the 1960s. He was recognized as the oldest active public servant in the state's executive branch, having witnessed the terms of 19 different governors. His career spanned nearly six decades of political coverage and public service.
Goiás Governor Daniel Vilela expressed his condolences, noting Diógenes' long-standing dedication to his profession and his personal connection to the state's political history. Diógenes had recently been awarded the title of Citizen of Goiás by the Legislative Assembly.
A wake is scheduled for Saturday, September 26, at the Cemitério Parque Memorial in Goiânia, with burial expected in the late afternoon.
