Journalist Babacar Fall receives death threats after controversial interview

Journalist Babacar Fall, host of ‘RFM Matin’, has publicly denounced a wave of insults and death threats directed at him following a controversial broadcast. The backlash follows an interview with Serigne Abou Sy, a son of the late Serigne Cheikh Ahmed Tidiane Sy Al Maktoum.

During the interview, Serigne Abou Sy made several sensitive claims regarding family tensions and the spiritual and material inheritance of the late caliph of the Moustarchidines. He announced intentions to file a complaint against Serigne Moustapha Sy and alleged that the organization of the Gamou at the Champ de courses was funded by political funds from the presidency of Bassirou Diomaye Faye.

The situation has reignited long-standing disputes within the Sy family and raised concerns regarding the safety of journalists in Senegal when covering sensitive religious and familial matters.
