Journalist Christine Kelly denounces RMC for accent mockery

Journalist Christine Kelly has publicly denounced repeated mockery of her Caribbean accent during broadcasts on RMC. Speaking on Europe 1, the CNews presenter criticized comedian Arnaud Demanche for caricaturing her way of speaking and expression during his morning chronicles.

Kelly stated that these imitations, which often trigger laughter from studio presenters, cross the line from humor into discrimination. She described the behavior as an incitement to hatred under the guise of comedy, asserting, “I am Caribbean, I am French, I am Black and I love myself as I am.”

In addition to the personal attacks, Kelly accused the station of receiving preferential treatment from Arcom, the French audiovisual regulator, compared to other outlets. She characterized the recurring jokes about her origins as discriminatory and harmful.
