Journalist faces defamation trial over Garlasco case allegations

Alessandro De Giuseppe, a reporter for the program ‘Le Iene’, is facing a trial for aggravated defamation. The case stems from allegations that Gian Luigi Tizzoni, a lawyer for the family of Chiara Poggi, provided confidential documents to Andrea Sempio, a suspect in the Garlasco murder case, to assist his defense strategy.

Prosecutor Sara Ombra has scheduled the first hearing for November 20. Tizzoni has filed three complaints, denying any unauthorized access to files and labeling the journalist's claims as ‘biased and instrumental’ conspiracy theories. De Giuseppe maintains that his reporting accurately reflected findings from his investigation and was presented in a questioning tone rather than as absolute truth.
