Journalist missing in Mexico and fatal bridge accident in Guatemala

In Mexico, the human rights organization Artículo 19 has issued an urgent alert regarding the disappearance of radio broadcaster Iván Michel Atilano. Michel, a host for Radio Evolución 98.5 FM, was last seen on August 18 in Huautla de Jiménez, Oaxaca. He was described as wearing a black t-shirt, navy blue jeans, and black-framed glasses. The organization is calling for a coordinated search by the Oaxaca Attorney General's Office and has requested protection measures for Michel's family and colleagues, noting the risks faced by journalists in the region.

In Guatemala, a search for 28-year-old Ilan Hanzel Osorio Villanueva ended in tragedy following a fatal accident at the Güijo bridge in Usumatlán, Zacapa. Osorio Villanueva, originally from Los Amates, Izabal, had been missing since Saturday afternoon after reporting mechanical issues with his vehicle. He was identified as one of four people killed in the incident, which involved a trailer and several other vehicles, causing the bridge to collapse.
