Journalist Mohammad Naseem Ahmad killed in Uttar Pradesh advertisement dispute
Mohammad Naseem Ahmad, the 60-year-old bureau chief of the Hindi daily Dainik Janvani, was allegedly beaten to death in the Hapur district of Uttar Pradesh. The incident occurred on Jarothi Road following a dispute regarding a Diwali advertisement.
Ahmad had reportedly visited a flour mill owned by Ashok Kumar Gupta to request an advertisement for his newspaper. According to a complaint filed by his son-in-law, Dr. Shahrukh, the businessman and his associates allegedly questioned the group’s journalistic credentials and labeled them “fake journalists.” The confrontation escalated into a physical assault involving a group of seven to eight individuals, who reportedly struck Ahmad repeatedly in the chest and other parts of his body.
Ahmad was rushed to a community health centre, where he was pronounced dead. Hapur Superintendent of Police Madhuban Kumar confirmed the death and stated that the assault stemmed from the advertisement dispute. Police have detained two individuals for questioning and are reviewing CCTV footage and forensic evidence to identify all those involved. The incident has caused significant distress to Ahmad’s family, particularly as they were preparing for his younger daughter’s upcoming wedding.
